I’ve decided to part ways with Kindle Unlimited. Given a horrible run-in with Amazon, the rising subscription fees, and the falling author pay rates, it is sadly time to move on.
If you’ve been around for a while, you probably know my issues with Amazon started in 2023. I yanked the books out of Kindle Unlimited at the time, then ended up returning to the program. Frankly, I needed Kindle Unlimited to keep food on the table. Now, with a fresh day job, improving (mental and physical) health, and a great marketing opportunity across all retailers, it’s time to spread my pages to all retailers. I’ve been waiting for the stars to align on this, and we’re there.
I have no plans to return to the program. HOWEVER, I committed to putting Time Walker’s Journal: Peacemaker in Kindle Unlimited for 90 days after release. I will hold true to that. As for the rest of the books… We’ll see. I might try to rotate the boxed sets into Kindle Unlimited over time. But, I don’t intend to be fully exclusive to Amazon in the future.
I will host regular ebook giveaways through social media.
What does this mean for you?
- Any of my books you have “checked out” through the Kindle Unlimited program will remain in your library until you return them.
- My books will remain available for purchase on Amazon. I am not raising prices and will send updates about big sales.
- My books will become available through all the retailers I can manage, including Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Google Play, and Kobo. You can also buy direct from me.
- I will add the books to library systems, Kobo Plus, and Everand. Kobo Plus and Everand are lending programs similar to KU and include audiobooks.
Buying directly from me
My store offers all the books, including a digital boxed set of all the Building the Circle books unavailable on Amazon. The store is hosted through Payhip, and PayPal handles payments to ensure a secure, streamlined checkout. The books are delivered through BookFunnel – an indie author mainstay known for great customer service.
Books purchased through my site:
- Can be read on any e-reader, including a Kindle. The BookFunnel app makes it easy to move books to your preferred app.
- Can be added to your Kindle Library, so it’s available on all your devices
- Do not require sales tax – which saves you a bit!
- Pay me higher royalties for the same you’d pay through another vendor.
Going forward, new releases will be available in my store up to three days before they’re available elsewhere.
